Kinja'd!!!

The Sunday closest Armistice Day of the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month of 1918, the end of World War I, the war to end all wars which saw an estimated death toll of 40 million. It merely became a pre-cursor to a bigger war. World War II which saw an estimated again death toll of 70-85 million lives.

This is one of two days we remember the people who gave their all, their blood, their sweat, their tears and ultimately, their lives.

We owe little in this world, but we owe the fallen and those that came back to remember them, what happened, what they saw and did, what those that came back have had to live with, they can’t forget their experiences and nor should we.

We live in a very divisive time politically, racially, etc...

We need to learn from yesterday, so it’s not repeated tomorrow.

Lest We Forget The Men Of Yesterday Who Gave Their Todays For Our Tomorrow’s.

We’re going up to mother’s grave later to stake a cross at her grave.

She was R.A.F. and R.O.C.

Lest we forget.

“In Flanders fields the poppies blow

Between the crosses, row on row,
That mark our place; and in the sky
The larks, still bravely singing, fly
Scarce heard amid the guns below.

We are the Dead. Short days ago
We lived, felt dawn, saw sunset glow,
Loved and were loved, and now we lie
In Flanders fields.

Take up our quarrel with the foe:
To you from failing hands we throw
The torch; be yours to hold it high.
If ye break faith with us who die
We shall not sleep, though poppies grow
In Flanders fields.”

I’d like to think I’ll have my shit together around 11 am tomorrow for a little quiet time...but I won’t.

Total fire ban tomorrow and Tuesday and some really nasty fire weather through some already heavily burn t territory...and then some.

So when the time comes round give a thought to emergency services personnel in Oz, California and the UK as well ...they are having a shit time. M'lady would appreciate it.

I always do mate .

Almost all of my family, myself included are ex-forces and/or ex-emergency services personnel.

Incredibly stressful jobs because while there is a degree of pro-active work, it is mostly re-active affecting your heart, body and mind daily in ways that most people couldn’t f athom.

To you good lady (aka SWMBO, she who must be obeyed) , thank you.
